CAMACA

Our Social Media Campaign

Social Media has overtaken the mainstream media (MSM) as the source of News and Information for most people.

Internet users spend over 10 times more of their free time on Social Media than they do following the MSM. But with a deluge of diverse information comes a greater risk.

The MSM are policed by watchdogs and their respective governments, with freedom of the press being balanced with other concerns, like obeying the law.

The Social Media giants enjoy much more freedom - they operate like 'Matrix Agents' in cyberspace - and are harder to hold to account in different jurisdictions around the World.

Keeping our children safe online is PARAMOUNT - If we can't do so effectively at home and elsewhere it's better to have no internet at all.

Filters at home are inadequate and do not prevent our children from Social Media failures and inappropriate content there.

CAMACA supports free speech but never abusive or grooming speech.

Any speech that is abusive towards children, any promotion of paedophilia or child grooming must be reported and swiftly prosecuted fully by the law.

Investigators acting undercover have done some excellent grass-roots work rounding up paedophiles and abusers online.

However, the good results of 'entrapment tactics' should not be used as an excuse for Social Media failures.

The big tech Social Media giants have immense influence and power and with great power comes great responsibility.

Each Social Media giant has their own guidelines and various levels of censorship but they need to do more to protect children using their platforms, especially in banning pornography and abusive and harmful material.

Facebook have already been massively fined for blatantly failing to prevent inappropriate images on their platform.

CAMACA says Social Media needs to be held far more to account - worldwide.

The Internet belongs to ALL of us.
